Did you know human perilymph fluid contains exosomes?

Although it is only a few micro-Liters from clinical sampling, Dr. Staecker and his team can still identify exosomes and are developing new diagnostic tests for patients with hearing loss disease.

The perilymph inner ear fluid harvested from surgical procedures in hearing loss patients were tiny representing only ~5 micro-Liters, and exosomes were successfully isolated using Clara Biotech’s ExoRelease technology which uses a novel ultrasensitive immunomagnetic (nano pom-poms capture-release) approach. This is the first time sample material from hair cells in the living human inner ear was used for exosome analysis.
